Baby Poem -I see you: Chronicles of a new mother

A tried momma

holding her baby tight

swaying and soothing good night

Ever so often she glances in the mirror

with the hopes her baby eyes are closed asleep

I see my baby

eyes wide open

So we continue soothing and walking about

baby deep in comfort but wonderous thought

Mother happily will hold you in comfort forever my child

Baby sees the walls

Sees the chairs

New colors

New smells

scanning the area in its entirety

Can't leave anything behind

oh no

this is home

New home away from home

still new still home

As the eyes get heavy

there is mom in the mirror

side facing to see the corner of her babies eyes

Then what once was a closed eye

opens side eyed to see and says

I see you mommy

Mommy runs startled thinking how did my baby see me

eye to eye swear it to be

this baby my baby was closed eye asleep

in a second connected eye to eye with me

let mommy wait

I guess

another 5 minutes to see

then maybe finally lay you to sleep
